Chakra Stones: Solar Plexus Chakra and Fire Crystal

I started a Daily Witchcraft class in March. The aim of the class is to make magic a daily practice and since I had gotten away from my daily practice, I decided this would be a good class for me.

Unfortunately the other 2 people who were going to be in the class had to drop it. But luckily, the teacher, Shen-tat, didn’t cancel the class and I get a private lesson every week, which I’m really enjoying. I’m not a beginner so we can move quickly through lessons and take interesting tangents beginners may not be able to follow.

Shen-tat gave me a set of chakra stones and each week I am supposed to work with the stones daily. I’ve been instructed to create documents for the stones and I thought it would be nice if I wrote about my experiences working with them on my blog as a quick reference for myself and others who might be interested in learning about the stones.

Solar Plexus Chakra: Fire Quartz

All about Fire Quartz

As you can see, fire quartz is clear and becomes illuminated when you shine light through it

Fire quartz wasn’t as easy to research as jet and carnelian, the first 2 chakra stones I worked with. Carnelian and jet had straight forward properties but fire quartz was elusive. I got a lot of conflicting information but according to a Llewellyn article about fire quartz, it’s difficult to determine what is fire quartz since most of the time, it just means quartz with iron in it so there are different variations. But most of the sites agreed that because fire quartz contains iron, it’s a good stone for cultivating inner strength. That tracks with it being my stone for the solar plexus.

It is thought to promote physical strength and encourage. It is also thought to be a stone of energy, action, transformation and passion. If you need courage and strength, this is a good stone for you.

One thing that seemed to be universally reported is that fire quartz can be found in Brazil, Madagascar, Morocco, South Africa and the United States. It is a good stone for grounding and some websites said that it can be used to balance the root, sacral and solar plexus chakras. It can be associated with all the fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius (and I include Scorpio because it’s fire and water).

Fire quartz can be cleansed by using selenite, smoke, sound, moonlight, burial in earth and water. Be careful cleansing it with salt.

My Experiences working with Fire Quartz

Developing a Daily Ritual Practice

I have a ritual for working with the stones. I try to work with them every day, but sometimes life happens. If I can spend time doing focused work on my current chakra 3-4 times a week, I feel like I get the benefits.

First I cleanse my home before I start my daily ritual. I find smudging helps me ground and center. I like to use sage bundles but if you have a different method of cleansing the home, do what speaks to you.

Then I light the candles on my altar, light a little bit of incense, and start my work

I started with the base chakra but I’ve been following the same routine as I work through the chakras.

For the Solar Plexus Chakra, I decided to play the mantra for the solar, “RAM” while holding the fire quartz crystal to my solar plexus. I used the solar plexus chakra mandala as a meditative focus.

For breathing during meditation, I used the box breath (inhale hold for four count, exhale hold for four count) for ten minutes, focusing on the mandala for the base chakra and holding the fire quartz stone to my solar plexus chakra. I would let all my concerns, worries or even things I was excited or happy about fall away and come to rest in the moment.

Then I would leave the mantra on and journal.

I’ll dedicate another post to the white/black journaling technique that is an Algard Wiccan technique which I have found useful in helping alchemize my shadows. During my journaling time, I write down the astrological transits of the day, something that I fell out of practice keeping track of when I stopped regularly writing astrology columns.

Then I would do the short ritual techniques that Shen-tat outlined for a daily ritual practice, scan the Zohar, which is a personal practice I am trying to develop, and get ready for bed. It is always a very nice way to end the day and wind down before sleep.

The effects of working with fire quartz and the Daily Ritual Practice on my Daily Life

It took a couple of weeks for me to get working with fire quartz down pat. I was happy we canceled class the week I was supposed to report on fire quartz because I wasn’t really sure what to say about it.

I was having terrible PMDD and perimenopause symptoms. Since February, my symptoms have gotten worse and I was starting to think I needed to go see my doctor. The unbearable symptoms were disrupting my work and I was constantly getting in trouble. My brain fog was so bad I couldn’t understand what people were saying to me and I was crying a lot. My temper was bad and I felt like I had bees buzzing in my uterus.

My boss, who has known me for ages, said she thought I should get my hormones checked out. I didn’t like the way that conversation felt, but she confirmed what I was already thinking: I needed to see my gynecologist. I had been thinking that even more because even though I have an IUD and I haven’t had a full, fertile period since 2019, I started my period and it didn’t stop. It started to look like something was very wrong.

I did have a great night going to see HEALTH even though my hormones were off. I looked really hot and rocked the show with confidence. I can say that I feel the most confident when I look hot, and even though I was concerned about my physical health (at the HEALTH show lol), I enjoyed the freedom, fun and self esteem boost of going to a show fun and dancing without any cares. Fire quartz is supposed to help with fun and spontaneity and I felt that.

However, although I did have a fun night, the trouble with my reproductive health was still in the background.

I had a day off and ended up going to the gyno. And something was wrong after all; my IUD had slipped out of place! My doctor told me I needed to get my IUD removed and replaced and that made me very upset because that procedure HURTS LIKE HELL.

Then there were a bunch of obstacles around scheduling the procedure and I had to advocate to get the care I need for myself. But the fire quartz helped energize that. And it helped give me courage to face the procedure.

I also continued to work on different projects and found the courage to submit some artwork to an art show. And even though that whole process was a mess because of tech issues, I did it and I’m proud of myself. And I sold an art print too!

Overview

Fire quartz seems to be a good stone for advocating for yourself. In my experience, it seemed to bring out my natural talents and strengths and ampify them. I also felt a confidence boost when I went out to a concert.

I don’t know if anyone else with a menstral disorder feels this way but it is not a good stone to work with during the luteal phase because it can really rev up that fire that comes with PMDD. However, when I did need to advocate for myself when it came to my health, it did help.

Have you worked with fire quartz? If you have, how did it go?
